More than a dozen gas stations in Western Visayas have stopped operating, according to the Police Regional Office (PRO-6).
As of March 27, the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) regional office has recorded 14 gas station closures
Police Major Lailyn Sencil, PRO-6 spokesperson, said the closures were due to supply constraints amid the Middle East conflict.
The province of Antique logged the highest number of closures at 6, followed by Iloilo (4), Aklan (3), and Guimaras (1).
Last week, President Bongbong Marcos assured that the country has enough supply of crude oil.
“We already have a supply of crude oil, a sufficient supply of crude oil until June 30. But we are still looking for supply, we are still supporting our commuters,” he said.
According to the President, he has ordered the Department of Energy (DOE) “continue looking for additional supply.”
The country is currently under a national energy emergency.IMT
