A total of 171 drug suspects were arrested in Western Visayas in July this year, according to the Police Regional Office (PRO-6).

Seized from the suspects were 6,081 grams of shabu (crystal meth) and 30 grams of marijuana worth more than P41 million.

Sixty-one of those arrested were tagged as high-value individuals (HVIs) while 110 were considered as street-level individuals (SLIs).

From July 1 to 31, police units in the region conducted 130 anti-drug operations, with the Iloilo City Police Office accounting for the highest number at 77.

The Iloilo Police Provincial Office came in second with 25 operations, followed by the Capiz Police Provincial Office (11), and the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (7).

PRO-6 Regional Director Police Brigadier General Joselino D. Ligan commended the operatives for their “unwavering dedication and sustained efforts in the fight against illegal drugs.”

“These numbers reflect your dedication and commitment to fulfilling your sworn duties,” he said.

“Continue to exert effort in identifying the associates of these suspects and subject them to law enforcement operations if evidence warrants,” Ligan added.

The arrested suspects have been charged with violations under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.IMT
