Two of the 15 contractors handling flood control projects identified by President Bongbong Marcos have multi-million-peso projects in Iloilo City, according to Mayor Raisa Treñas.
Construction firms are St. Timothy Construction Corp. and Alpha & Omega General Contractor & Development Corp.hold major contracts under the Iloilo City District Engineering Office (ICDEO), the mayor disclosed.
Based on ICDEO’s July 31, 2025 status report, St. Timothy Construction Corp. is implementing three flood mitigation projects in Lapuz and other parts of the city, each worth ₱125–₱150 million. One project has been suspended since June 9, 2025 due to obstructions and unclear site specifications.
Meanwhile, Alpha & Omega General Contractor & Development Corp. is building a ₱150-million section of the Iloilo Comprehensive Flood Mitigation Project, targeted for completion by March 2026. The project’s exact location has yet to be publicly specified.
“These are big-ticket projects that directly affect the safety of our communities,” Treñas said. “Flooding has brought severe and repeated suffering to our people. If there are delays, deficiencies, or misuse of funds, the public has every right to know—and those responsible must be held to account without fear or favor.”
Treñas said some of these projects are “either non-functional, have caused flooding, or are practically non-existent,” underscoring the urgency of transparency.
The mayor pledged full cooperation with the President’s ongoing probe into the contractors.
“We welcome the President’s call for transparency,” she said. “Every project must be completed to the highest standards, without shortcuts and without corruption. The city government will provide all information needed to aid this investigation.”IMT
