Malacañang welcomed the latest OCTA Research survey showing a significant drop in the number of Filipino families who consider themselves poor.
Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary Claire Castro credited the results to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s anti-poverty and social welfare initiatives.
“Ibig sabihin, nararamdaman na rin po ng mga taong target ng mga programa ng Pangulo patungkol sa kagutuman ang pag-angat, ang improvement,” Castro said in a press briefing.
The survey, conducted from April 10 to 16, revealed that self-rated poverty decreased from 50% in November 2024 to 42%. This represents 2.1 million Filipino families who now report an improved standard of living.
Food poverty also dropped by 14 points, from 49% to 35%. This means around 3.7 million families are now free from food insecurity.
Castro emphasized that the government will continue to expand social welfare and livelihood programs to help more families improve their quality of life.
“Sisikapin po ng ating Pangulo at ng administrasyon na lalo pang mapalawig ang mga programang ito para mas lalong maiangat ang buhay ng ating mga kababayan,” she added.IMT
