Residential customers of More Electric and Power Corporation (MORE Power) can expect lower electricity bills this month.
The city’s sole power distributor announced a power rate reduction of P0.5080 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) in December.
The adjustment lowers the total rate to P11.3477 per kWh from P11.85/kWh in the preceding month.
According to MORE Power the reduction was driven by a drop in electricity demand, which increased the supply margin and helped lower the average Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM) rate.
“As demand went down, more power became available, leading to lower average WESM prices,” it said.
The transmission charge and system loss rate also decreased while the distribution, supply, and metering charges remained steady.
MORE Power said the transmission charge decreased to P1.7918 per kWh from P1.8612 per kWh and its system loss rate went down from P0.4512 per kWh to P0.4086 per kWh.IMT
