A total of 803 drug suspects were arrested in Western Visayas from January to June this year, according to the Police Regional Office (PRO-6).
The suspects, who were nabbed in 634 anti-drug operations conducted in the region, yielded P167 million worth of shabu (crystal meth).
The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) recorded the highest drug seizure, amounting to P71.4 million, followed by the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) (P63.5 million) and the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (P21.6 million)
Police Brigadier General Josefino D. Ligan, PRO-6 director, commended unit commanders and personnel for their “dedication to the anti-drug campaign.”
“These figures reflect your unwavering dedication to our campaign to eradicate illegal drugs in every community,” he said.
Ligan urged them to continue building strong public relationships and inter-agency collaborations.
“With their support, we can identify those engaged in these unlawful activities and hold them accountable,” he said.
The arrested suspects face charges under Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.IMT
