As they gear up for the much-anticipated Batang Pinoy 2025 National Championships in General Santos City, student-athletes in Antique received financial assistance from the provincial government.
Governor Paolo Javier led distribution of P1,938,000 in financial assistance to 114 young athletes who will represent the province in the event scheduled on October 25–30, 2025.
Each athlete received P17,000, covering their plane tickets, uniforms, and allowances as part of the province’s full support for their participation in the national competition.
Javier assured Antiqueño athletes of continued assistance, saying the provincial government will assess and further enhance support in future tournaments.
“Good luck gid kaninyo tanan. Kabay pagid nga suliton ninyo. Bring home the bacon, bring home the awards. Ipabugal namun ri-a tungod kamo ang amon representante kang bawat Antiqueño. Continue what you are doing and pursue your dreams,” he said.
Among the participants is Feolisa Marinelle D. Durana, a 15-year-old taekwondo athlete from Antique National School, who is joining the Batang Pinoy for the second time.
Durana recently brought honor to the province after winning two medals—one from the 17th ASEAN Taekwondo Federation Championships held in Vietnam on August 21, 2025, and another from the Best of the Best Taekwondo Championship in Manila on September 6–7, 2025.
She has been practicing taekwondo since the age of seven. Inspired by her brother, who is also a taekwondo athlete and a scholar at the University of Santo Tomas (UST), Durana plans to continue her senior high school studies at UST as a scholar as well.
To recall, Antique athletes also represented the province in the Batang Pinoy 2024 held in Puerto Princesa, Palawan from November 23–28, 2024.IMT Sports
