Four decades after the 1986 EDSA People Power uprising, Senator Bam Aquino said the revolt remains an “unfinished revolution,” stressing the need for unity to fight corruption, abuse of power, poverty, and inequality.
At the “Prayer Power sa EDSA” marking the 40th anniversary, Aquino said the promises of EDSA have yet to be fully realized and must be completed, even if it takes another 40 years.
He likened the nation’s journey to the Israelites’ 40 years in the desert before reaching the Promised Land, urging Filipinos not to lose direction or the spirit of unity that defined 1986.
Aquino highlighted the Filipino “superpower” of unity and sacrifice, saying the youth will play a decisive role in fulfilling EDSA’s promise. He cited their strong stand against the flood control scandal, which began with online protests and led to the Trillion Peso March on Sept. 21, 2025.
“Ang EDSA Revolution, hindi ‘yan isang bagay na para sa mga textbook at sa ating nakaraan kasaysayan. Ito po ay ang gabay at plano sa ating kinabukasan. Gamitin po natin ang nakita ho natin noon, kung paano natin tatahakin ang ating daan,” according to him.IMT
