Iloilo City Representative Jamjam Baronda has expressed willingness to disclose her statement of assets, liabilities and net worth (SALN).
In a media interview on Thursday, Oct. 23, Baronda said she will release a copy of her SALN “in due time.”
Last week, Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla issued a memorandum lifting restrictions on public access to officials’ SALNs.
“This decision is guided by a simple principle: the public has a legitimate right to know how those in government acquire and manage their wealth,” the Ombudsman said.
“Transparency in this area is not a slogan – it is a safeguard against corruption and a deterrent to abuse of power,” the anti-graft office added.
The memorandum reversed the policy imposed in September 2020 by then-Ombudsman Samuel Martires, which restricted SALN release.IMT
