President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has declared Friday, June 6, 2025, a regular holiday nationwide in observance of Eid’l Adha or the Feast of Sacrifice, through Proclamation No. 911 signed on May 21.

The Commission on Muslim Filipinos recommended the June 6 date, in line with the 1446 Hijrah Islamic Lunar Calendar.

Eid’l Adha is one of the most significant holidays in Islam, commemorating Prophet Ibrahim’s (Alayhis Salam) devotion to Allah. It is a time for prayer, feasting, and giving, and also marks the end of the annual Hajj pilgrimage to Makkah in Saudi Arabia.

Under Republic Act No. 9849, the 10th day of Zhul Hijja—the 12th month of the Islamic calendar—is recognized as a national holiday for Eid’l Adha, with its date varying each year.IMT
