President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ordered contractors behind ghost and substandard flood control projects to finish them properly at their own expense, citing warranties under government contracts.

Marcos Jr. said contractors must still honor their obligations even as investigations and cases proceed.

“Kahit sinabi nilang completed, kapag nadiskubre na hindi tama ang pagkagawa, they still have to honor the warranty that they have given us to complete the project properly,” he stressed.

The President warned that those involved in corruption will face charges, removal from office, and even jail time.

He also named retired Supreme Court Justice Andres B. Reyes Jr. as chair of the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI), with members former DPWH Secretary Rogelio Singson, SGV Managing Partner Rossana Fajardo, and Baguio Mayor Benjamin Magalong as adviser.

The ICI is tasked to probe corruption in flood control projects over the past decade.

“It’s simple numbers dito, simple lang ito. Magkano ang ninakaw na pera ng mga balasubas na ito? That is what we need to know, that is what we need to fix,” said Marcos Jr.IMT
