President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has instructed the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) to hold monthly job fairs to expand employment opportunities for Filipinos.

“Mahigpit kong naging tagubilin sa Kalihim ng Paggawa na siguruhin na buwan-buwan ay magdaraos tayo ng job fair upang mas marami pang mabigyan ng trabaho,” Marcos Jr. said during the 123rd Labor Day celebration in Pasay City on Thursday, May 1.

From July 2022 to February 2024, over 4,000 job fairs were held, with one million Filipinos participating and nearly 170,000 hired on the spot.

In line with Labor Day activities, the government, in partnership with the private sector, has been hosting job fairs in 69 locations nationwide since April 23.

The President also said the government continues to attract both local and foreign investors to boost job creation.

Between 2022 and 2024, the country secured about $27 billion in investments, while Investment Promotion Agencies reported over P4.35 trillion in commitments, generating more than 350,000 jobs.

Highlighting the country’s strong economic performance, Marcos Jr. noted that unemployment dropped to 4.3%, the lowest in 20 years, and further decreased to 3.8% in February.

He also praised Filipino workers as the “foundations and pillars” of society both in the Philippines and abroad.IMT
