President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has ordered the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to impose a price freeze on basic and prime commodities until the end of the year to keep prices stable during the holiday season.

Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary Claire Castro said Marcos Jr. issued the directive before leaving for the ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur.

The President also instructed the DTI to strictly monitor prices and enforce the suggested retail prices for imported rice and other essential goods.

He further ordered close coordination with manufacturers to prevent unwarranted price hikes.

Trade Secretary Ma. Cristina Aldeguer-Roque assured that the DTI is working with industry stakeholders to maintain current price levels and ensure fair pricing for consumers during the holidays.IMT
