President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said his administration’s efforts are guided by the needs of the people, not by approval ratings.
“We don’t work according to surveys,” Marcos Jr. said in the latest episode of his BBM Podcast aired Wednesday, Aug. 6.
When asked about his improving trust and approval ratings, the President emphasized that his focus remains on solving real problems, not gaining popularity.
“What we do is ‘pag may nagrereklamo, sinasabi, mahaba ang pila sa PhilHealth, ano ang puwede nating gawin para mas maginhawa? he said.
Marcos Jr. cited improvements at PhilHealth, including simplified processes through digitalization and enhanced benefit packages to cover more medical expenses.
He also directed the Department of Transportation (DOTr) to provide 50% fare discounts for students, seniors, and persons with disabilities (PWDs) using the LRT-1, LRT-2, and MRT-3.
“‘Yung mga seniors kailangan tulungan natin. O sige, bigyan natin ng diskuwento doon sa mga tren. O tapos ‘yung commuters kasi araw-araw ‘yan eh. So anything that we can do to make things easier,” the Chief Executive said.
According to OCTA Research’s Tugon ng Masa survey conducted July 12–17, Marcos Jr.’s trust rating rose from 60% to 64%, and his performance rating increased from 59% to 62%, the highest among top government officials.IMT
