President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has dismissed calls for his resignation, affirming his commitment to addressing the country’s problems despite recent Cabinet changes.
“I will resign? Ba’t ko gagawin ’yun? At wala sa ugali ko ang tinatakbuhan ang problema. What good will that do?” Marcos Jr. said during a press briefing at the 46th ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
He emphasized his leadership style is focused on finding solutions, not avoiding issues.
Last week, Marcos ordered all Cabinet members to submit courtesy resignations as part of a government overhaul. He clarified the move aims to boost efficiency, not serve as a political gesture.
Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin confirmed that two resignations have been accepted, while the President’s economic team remains intact.
Marcos also announced a “rigorous performance review” that will go beyond the Cabinet level.
He is expected to return to the Philippines early Wednesday after the two-day summit.IMT
