President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said Monday, Sept. 1, he will issue an executive order creating an independent commission to investigate alleged corruption in Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) projects, particularly flood control works.
The commission will serve as an investigative arm, tasked to gather evidence, recommend legal action, and advise whether cases should be filed with the Ombudsman or the DOJ.
“Kasi unfortunately, the more we look, the more we find. Kahit sa 2026 budget, marami pa ring siningit. So, talagang – it really needs to be cleaned out properly,” said Marcos Jr.
The body, he added, will include forensic investigators, lawyers, justices, and prosecutors, though its structure and leadership are still being finalized.
The President, however, did not name who will lead the commission, saying that the structure is still being finalized.IMT
