President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said that unused funds from the 2025 flood control budget will be redirected to priority sectors like health and education.

Of the P350 billion allotted, about P225 billion, mostly for locally funded projects, will not be utilized due to delays from ongoing probes into alleged irregularities.

“We will reappropriate it to education, to health, and other departments that are in need of this funding,” Marcos Jr. told reporters after his state visit to Cambodia.

He clarified that foreign-assisted projects under the P275 billion flood control allocation will proceed as planned.

The President also said no new money will be set aside for flood control in the 2026 budget, stressing that the 2025 funds must be fully spent first.IMT
