While many of homes in Negros Occidental remain in the dark, one lawmaker shed light on what he called misplaced priorities.

Negros Occidental 3rd District Representative Javier Miguel Lopez Benitez took to Facebook to air his frustration over a video released by Negros Power, which appeared to showcase the firm’s operations during the onslaught of Typhoon Tino on November 4.

“With all due respect, nakahimo pa video ang Negros Power pero kadamo pa subong nga balay wala gihapon kuryente. Naanu ni man?” Benitez wrote, questioning the company’s focus while restoration is still incomplete.

As of the latest update from the company, restoration efforts are ongoing across affected areas, with line crews racing to replace toppled posts, rewire damaged lines, and fix transformers and other power accessories.

Negros Power assured the public that once repairs are completed and safety checks cleared, power will be fully restored to all connected households.

“Kun matapos ang ini nga mga poste kag pagkay-o sang mga linya… pagapasigahon na naton ini kag magkakakuryente na ang mga panimalay nga nakaangot diri. Salamat gid sa inyo nga kooperasyon,” the firm said in its statement.

For now, patience runs thin as Negros residents wait — not for another video — but for the lights to finally come back on.IMT
