Board Member Binky Tupas has defeated her husband’s older brother, Niel “Junjun” Tupas Jr., in the race for representative of Iloilo’s Fifth District.

Based on the official results of the May 12 elections, Binky earned a total of 145,283 votes while Junjun obtained 113,313 votes.

Binky will take over the seat of her husband, outgoing Congressman Raul “Boboy” Tupas, who also ran in midterm polls but failed in his bid to serve the province as vice governor.

The outgoing member of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan was officially proclaimed winner by the Provincial Board of Canvassers on Tuesday, May 13.

Madamu gid nga salamat,” said Binky.
