More than 50 thousand tourists spent their Holy Week in the world-famous Boracay Island, Malay, Aklan, this year.
The Malay Tourism Office recorded more than 56 thousand local and foreign visitors from Palm Sunday, March 29, to Black Saturday, April 4.
The number was higher compared with last year’s observance of Holy Week, which attracted 53 thousand guests.
For the whole month of March, Boracay welcomed a total of 200,165 tourists, higher by 17 percent than the number logged in the same month last year.
Domestic tourists accounted for the highest number at 164,922, followed by foreign visitors (32.925), and overseas Filipinos ( 2,318).
Boracay is known for its crystal-clear waters, powdery white sand, and vibrant island life. It is Western Visayas’ top tourist drawer.IMT
