From world-class beaches to inclusive experiences, Boracay Island is taking another step in making tourism accessible for all.

A groundbreaking seminar on Autism Sensitivity and Response was recently held in the island to equip tourism frontliners with the right skills and understanding in assisting travelers on the autism spectrum.

The initiative, dubbed “Barrier-Free Tourism,” provided participants with deeper knowledge of autism, from recognizing and avoiding sensory triggers to responding to different behaviors with patience and empathy.

Tourism stakeholders were also trained on how to create a welcoming environment where guests with autism feel accepted, understood, and cared for.

As one of the most visited destinations in the world, Boracay welcomes thousands of tourists every year.

With the Department of Tourism (DOT) assuring inclusivity, this project ensures that every visitor—regardless of condition—enjoys a safe, comfortable, and memorable travel experience.

The seminar was spearheaded by the DOT-6 in partnership with the Local Government of Malay.IMT
