Boracay Island in Malay, Aklan, has once again been recognized as the “World’s Leading Luxury Island Destination.”
This marked Boracay’s second consecutive win at the prestigious World Travel Awards (WTA), reaffirming its status above all other luxury islands worldwide.
The award was accepted by Department of Tourism (DOT) Undersecretary Verna Esmeralda C. Buensuceso and DOT-6 regional director Crisanta Marlene P. Rodriguez during the WTA Grand Final Gala Ceremony held in Bahrain.
“The Department of Tourism Region VI extends its heartfelt congratulations to the Local Government of Malay, the Provincial Government of Aklan, and the entire dedicated workforce and residents of Boracay Island,” said Rodriguez.
“This award is a testament to our success in letting our guests feel the true luxury of being treated with distinct Filipino hospitality,” said continued.
Boracay, known for its powdery-white sand and clear waters, is Western Visayas’ top tourist drawer.IMT
