Senate Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano is pushing to integrate digital requirements into the processing of medical, burial, and other financial assistance under the proposed Simplified Government Aid Access Act.

Senate Bill Nio. 155 seeks to standardize and simplify documentary requirements to make aid more accessible, especially for indigent beneficiaries.

Cayetano, principal sponsor of the E-Governance Law (RA 12254), wants the Department of Information and Communications Technology designated as lead agency to develop and use the eGov Super App or similar platforms for accessing government aid.

Under his proposed amendment, the online or mobile app will handle requests for medical, burial, and related assistance.

He also proposed that hospitals and clinics, in coordination with the Department of Health, ensure medical certificates and abstracts are clear and legible.

For beneficiaries unable to sign due to age, illness, disability, or illiteracy, other reasonable proof of authorization may be allowed under implementing rules.

“Let it be as simple as kunan ko ng picture y’ung prescription tapos kung verified naman y’ung app mo, send it to them, then GCash nila y’ung voucher at kahit saang drugstore pwede nang ipambili,” said Cayetano.IMT
