Former Ilocos Sur governor Luis “Chavit” Singson has offered to testify before the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee on alleged corruption in flood control projects, panel chair Senator Ping Lacson said.

Lacson said Singson personally went to his office and expressed willingness to attend the hearing, tentatively set on April 14, though it may be scheduled earlier.

“He sent a letter, he indicated he wanted to testify. Sabi ko yes if you are testifying on flood control projects, we will schedule a hearing. Tentatively we scheduled it for April 14. but if we can hold it much earlier, why not?” according to the senator.

Singson has yet to submit an affidavit, while Lacson said it’s up to the former governor to prove his credibility during the hearing.

Meanwhile, Lacson said he will consult fellow senators on whether to invite 18 ex-soldiers allegedly linked to kickbacks, stressing their testimonies must reflect the truth.IMT
