From ruins to renewal, the City of Love is wasting no time in helping its people rise again.

The Iloilo City Government has released P16.9 million in quick response funds to help families rebuild their lives after Typhoon Tino’s devastation.

The recovery package includes cash aid, shelter materials, medicines, and rescue equipment, aiming to get storm-hit residents back on their feet fast.

Households with totally damaged homes will receive ₱10,000 worth of shelter materials, while those with partial damage will get ₱5,000 each, according to the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC).

The city reported 1,692 houses damaged — 98 totally destroyed and 1,595 partially damaged — when Tino battered Iloilo last week.

A detailed breakdown of the fund shows:
• ₱9.1 million for shelter materials
• ₱2 million for prepositioned goods
• ₱2 million for medicines
• ₱900,000 for generators
• ₱600,000 for rescue lights

Smaller allocations were also made for chlorine (₱165,000), vegetable seeds (₱100,000), solar fixtures (₱300,000), and even dog supplements and XXL collapsible cages for animal rescue.

With relief efforts in full swing, City Hall vowed to sustain recovery operations until all affected families have rebuilt not just their homes — but also their hope.IMT
