Classes in the province and city of Iloilo are suspended for two days from Nov. 10 (Monday) to 11 (Tuesday) due to the “forecasted major impacts” of Super Typhoon Uwan.

The suspension, which covers all levels in public and private schools, was ordered by the Office of the President through a memorandum circular (MC).

The MC, dated Nov. 9, 2025, was signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin.

City Mayor Raisa Trenas issued Executive Order (EO) No. 137 adopting the directive.

“Ini nga tikang ginahimo agud ma-ensure and siguridad kag kaayuhan sang aton mga estudyante, mamunudlo kag tanan nga school personnel,” she said.

“I ask everyone to remain alert, stay indoors when necessary, and keep updated through official advisories,” the mayor added.

In the province, Vice Governor Lee Ann Debuque signed a resolution recommending the suspension of classes in preparation for Typhoon Uwan.

“This proactive measure ensures the safety of our people as we continue to monitor weather updates and coordinate with our local disaster risk reduction teams across the province,” she said.

Iloilo is currently under Signal No. 1 due to the super typhoon.IMT
