The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) has asked Miagao, Iloilo mayoral candidate Macario Napulan to explain his alleged violation of Section 1, Articles III and IV of COMELEC Resolution No. 11064.

Article III requires candidates to “submit their registration forms for their official social media accounts and pages, websites, podcasts, blogs/ vlogs, and other online and internet-based campaign platforms.”

Article IV, on the other hand, states: “All (artificial intellegence) campaign materials using AI must disclose its use and detail the manipulation. Disclosures must be clear, conspicuous, and remain visible/audible for a sufficient duration.”

The inumbent vice mayor of the town was given five days upon receipt of the show-cause orders, signed by COMELEC Task Force Katotohanan, Karapatan at Katarungan chairperson Atty. Rex Laudiangco, to reply.

Napulan, a member of Tumandok of Miagao party, is running against his former ally, Mayor Richard Garin, Jr. of the Responsableng Gobyerno group.IMT
