The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) plans to distribute 300,000 to 400,000 land titles to agrarian reform beneficiaries in 2025, aiming to speed up long-delayed land ownership for farmers.
DAR Secretary Conrado Estrella III made the announcement during a post-SONA forum in San Juan City, saying many farmers have waited 15 to 30 years for their titles.
“Itong taon na ito, sa palagay ko, ang aming trajectory will be about 300,000 to 400,000 na mga titulo na ang tagal-tagal pong hinintay ng ating mga magsasaka,” said Estrella, noting the push comes directly from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., who wants to empower farmers through land ownership.
The titles, including Certificates of Land Ownership Award and e-titles, serve as legal proof of land ownership and can be used as collateral for loans or financial aid.
Estrella highlighted the increase in title distribution under Marcos’ administration. From July to December 2022, DAR distributed over 26,000 titles, matching what the previous administration took 18 months to achieve. That number rose to over 50,000 in 2023 and doubled to 100,000 in 2024.
The President wants farmers to feel real change, he said, adding that they are pushing even harder to get these titles into their hands.IMT
