The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) granted over P1.135 billion in debt relief to nearly 30,000 agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) in Panay and Guimaras Islands by issuing 39,443 Certificates of Condonation with Release of Mortgage. The ceremonial distribution took place on Thursday, July 17, in Passi City, Iloilo.

DAR Undersecretary for Foreign-Assisted and Special Projects Jesry Palmares led the event, which also includes the distribution of land titles and P75 million in farm support services.

“These simultaneous distributions of debt condonation, land titles, and crucial support services represent DAR’s comprehensive approach to truly empower our farmers,” said Palmares.

“We believe that by easing their financial burdens and providing them with direct ownership and modern tools, we are laying a strong foundation for their sustainable progress and the nation’s food security,” he also said.

As part of the ceremony, 275 Certificates of Landownership Award were distributed to 183 ARBs, covering 283.8 hectares. A total of 621 electronic land titles covering 702.32 hectares were also awarded to 361 ARBs under DAR’s SPLIT Project, which fast-tracks individual titling.

Meanwhile, 75 million worth of farm machinery and equipment, including tractors, harvesters, threshers, irrigation pumps, and hauling trucks, were turned over to 26 ARB Organizations in Iloilo and Guimaras. Sacks of organic fertilizer were also provided.

DAR said these initiatives will ease financial burdens, secure land tenure, and enhance agricultural productivity in the region, contributing to rural development and food security.IMT
