The public is losing patience as key figures in the flood control scam remain unpunished, ML Partylist Rep. Leila de Lima said, adding that the government’s promise to go after the “big fish” has yet to be delivered.

The public demands that the big fish or big fishes in this massive corruption scandal do not go unpunished—a promise of this administration that has yet to be fulfilled,” de Lima said in a statement.

The former senator stressed that “central figures and their accomplices” are now working to weaken investigations and confuse the public.

“We must double down on our fight against corruption,” she said, adding that other officials with hidden wealth and unresolved corruption cases must also be brought to account.

To curb the continued plunder of public funds, de Lima pushed for the immediate passage of key reforms, including the Independent Commission Against Impunity and Corruption Law, Anti-Political Dynasty Law, and the Anti-Illicit Enrichment and Anti-Illicit Transfer Law.

She urged President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to make anti-corruption a priority this year by certifying the bills as urgent, saying that inaction would not go unnoticed.

“No one is beyond accountability,” de Lima said. “Pag ganyan nang ganyan ang Pangulo, para syang substandard na paputok. Nagpasabog pero supot.”IMT
