More than 2,300 dengue cases, with 10 fatalities, were recorded in the province of Iloilo in the first six months of 2025.
The Provincial Health Office (PHO) recorded a total of 2,319 dengue cases from January 1 to June 21 to this year.
The figure was higher compared 1,413 cases, with five deaths, logged in the same period a year ago.
San Joaquin had the highest number of cases in the province at 168, followed by Oton (140), Dumangas and Leon (118 each), Cabatuan (109), and Pototan (105).

In terms of fatalities, Pototan and Carles posted the most number with two each, followed by Oton, Lambunao, Sara, Tigbauan, Balasan and Duenas with one each.
Dengue is transmitted through the bite of an Aedes mosquito, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).
Its symptoms include sudden onset of fever for two to seven days and at least two of the following: headache, body weakness, joint and muscle pains, pain behind the eyes, loss of appetite, vomiting, diarrhea and skin rashes.IMT
