The Department of Justice (DOJ) has indicted businessman Charlie “Atong” Ang on 10 counts of kidnapping with homicide and 16 counts of kidnapping with serious illegal detention, finding prima facie evidence of conviction.

A DOJ panel of prosecutors made the decision after a “meticulous evaluation” of the consolidated cases linked to the missing sabungeros.

Among those indicted with kidnapping with homicide are Ang, PLtCol. Ryan Jay Orapa, Rogelio Borican Jr., Rodelo Anig-ig, Jezrel Mahilum, and 21 others.

Those charged with kidnapping with serious illegal detention include Ang, Orapa, Michael Jacitin Claveria, Anig-ig, Borican Jr., and several unidentified policemen.

A total of 26 Informations will be filed with the courts. Actress Gretchen Barretto, initially mentioned in the investigation, is not charged.

The cases stemmed from whistleblower Julie Patidongan’s claim that Ang masterminded the killings of the missing sabungeros, allegedly burying them in Taal Lake.

The DOJ said it hopes the courts will “exact justice on those who should be held accountable.”IMT
