The Department of Justice (DOJ) has wrapped up its probe on Senator Joel Villanueva and forwarded three cases to the Office of the Ombudsman for review.

DOJ spokesperson Atty. Polo Martinez said the Ombudsman will determine if there is enough evidence to file the cases before the Sandiganbayan.

“As of this date, those three cases have been officially endorsed to the Ombudsman… they will review the findings and issue their own review resolution,” said Martinez.

The complaints, filed by the NBI, involve alleged anomalies in a Bulacan flood control project, with private contractors also named.

Martinez said the referral follows jurisdiction rules, as the cases involve officials with Salary Grade 27 or higher, which fall under the Ombudsman’s authority.IMT
