Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon has assured Ilonggos that the unfinished Aganan Flyover in Pavia, Iloilo, will be completed “before Christmas of 2026.”
“I will assure, and the President will assure that the Aganan Flyover will be finally finished this year… before Christmas of 2026,” Dizon told local reporters on Monday, Jan. 19.
“This is the directive of the President that all over the country, just like the Aganan Flyover that has been going on for a long time. Nothing is happening, it is not being completed. Let’s finish it,” he added.
Dizon, together with outgoing DPWH-6 Regional Director Al Fruto, inspected the P802-million flyover, which has been stalled since 2022.
The secretary also ordered the tapping of a third-party foreign consultant to assess the Aganan Flyover.
“Once na okay na, then sisimulan na natin ang final construction,” said Dizon.
“Walang tayong problema sa pondo, but we have to focus first on safety. Hopefully, in one month, by February, the middle of February, we can already start construction.”
According to Dizon, P229 million has been allocated for the rectification of flyover. The amount brings the total project cost to more than P1 billion.
The construction of the flyover started in November 2019 but was suspended in 2022 due to its faulty foundation design.IMT
