Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon has vowed to complete the construction of the controversial Aganan Flyover in Pavia, Iloilo, this year.

“The Aganan Flyover sa Iloilo, tatapusin na rin natin this year. ’Yan ‘yung lumulubog na flyover at nakita mismo ng Pangulo at galit na galit,” Dizon said in a press conference on Monday, Jan. 12.

President Bongbong Marcos inspected the unfinished P802-milllion flyover during his visit to Iloilo in August last year.

The construction of the project began in 2020 but stalled due to technical challenges, forcing design changes to ensure long-term safety and prevent further settlement.

DPWH-6 Officer-in-Charge Director Jose Al Fruto earlier said that an additional P285 million is needed for jet grouting works on 23 bridge piers and for widening the structure.

According to the official, the proposed budget has been included in the 2026 National Expenditure Program (NEP).

With the additional funding, the total project cost is expected to reach more than P1.1 billion.
