Lawyer Ferdinand Topacio has been appointed as the official spokesperson of PDP-Laban on impeachment matters, the party announced amid the ongoing impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte.
Topacio welcomed the role and emphasized the party’s full backing of Duterte, saying, “PDP is fully supportive of the stand of Vice-President Sara Duterte with respect to the complaint against her, and the party stands behind her all the way.”
The vice president is contesting the impeachment complaint, calling it “void ab initio” (void from the beginning) due to a constitutional provision that bars more than one impeachment proceeding against the same official within a year.
Her legal team, Fortun, Narvasa & Salazar, has filed a motion to dismiss the case, arguing it violates Section 3(5), Article XI of the 1987 Constitution.IMT
