Malacañang assured the public that the government’s investigation into the flood control scandal will continue even as the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) winds down operations by March 31.
Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary Claire Castro said the ICI has already turned over its report to the Ombudsman for further investigation.
“The mandate to pursue those responsible will continue. The conclusion of ICI does not signal the end of the inquiry on the flood control mess,” she said.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. created the ICI in September 2025 to probe corruption in flood control projects, but resignations left Andres Reyes Jr. as the sole commissioner.
By January 2026, he said the commission had completed the necessary investigations.
The Palace emphasized that the Ombudsman and DOJ continue preliminary probes and can conduct additional investigations motu propio, ensuring accountability even after ICI shuts down.IMT
