The National Irrigation Administration (NIA) has committed to supporting farmers affected by Severe Tropical Storm “Crising,” in line with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to prioritize farmers’ welfare during disasters.

In a virtual briefing, NIA Administrator Eddie Guillen said the agency is ready to help farmers recover from storm damage, particularly to crops and irrigation systems.

“Ang masasabi ko lang po dito sa ating mga bagong bayaning magsasaka ay nakahanda po lagi ang NIA na tumulong po sa inyo lalo na po kapag ganitong may mga calamities,” said Guillen.

Guillen added that NIA is working closely with the Department of Agriculture to distribute seeds and high-value crops to affected areas.

He also thanked President Marcos for turning over new equipment to speed up irrigation repairs and canal clearing.

On June 2, Marcos Jr. led the turnover of over 200 units of irrigation machinery, including vehicles, backhoes, dump trucks, and excavators, to boost nationwide irrigation operations.IMT
