The Guimaras Provincial Government has commended the signing into law a measure declaring the Taklong and Tandog Group of Islands a natural park.

Governor Ma. Lucille L. Nava said the enactment of Republic Act No. 12225, or the Taklong and Tandog Group of Islands Natural Park Act, is a “victory.”

“Daku gid ang akon kalipay nga ginpirmahan ni President Bongbong Marcos,” said Nava, who authored the law when she was the province’s representative.

“Salamat gid sa Provincial Government of Guimaras, DENR (Department of Environment and Natural Resources), PAMB (Protected Area Management Board), LGU (local government unit) of Nueva Valencia, kag sa tanan nga sektor nga nangin kabahin sa ini nga kadalag-an,” she added.

The law aims to conserve the area’s rich marine biodiversity, promote sustainable livelihoods, and ensure the ecological integrity of the islands through proper management, funding, and cooperation among government agencies and local communities.

The Taklong and Tandog Group of Islands Natural Park (TTGINP) is part of Barangay San Roque in the town Nueva Valencia.IMT
