Senator Risa Hontiveros is pushing a P52.8-billion supplemental budget to expand subsidies for drivers, farmers, fisherfolk, and distressed OFWs as the oil crisis worsens.
Under Senate Bill No. 1986, the package includes P12B for transport aid, P2.8B for agriculture, and P38B for OFW repatriation and livelihood programs.
“Magandang simula ang suspension of excise taxes, pero hindi pwedeng yan ang solong sagot… Kailangan natin ang supplemental budget,” Hontiveros said.
She warned current funds are limited and may not sustain assistance if the Middle East crisis drags on, urging Congress to act fast.
