The Iloilo City Government recently established the Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) Help Desk through Executive Order No. 092.
This executive order, signed by Mayor Raisa Treñas, aimed to address the needs and concerns of the OFWs and their families.
“Our Ilonggo OFWs are our modern-day heroes. Paagi sini nga EO, ginapakita sang Iloilo City ang iya pagtamod kag paghatag importansya sa ila kabudlay,” the city government said in Facebook post.
“Ini nga help desk magahatag sang suporta kag bulig sa aton mga OFW kag ila pamilya, para may ara sila sang masaligan nga partner nga mas malapit paagi sa local government,” it continued.
The help desk covers services and functions to include coordination and assistance with relevant government agencies, emergency repatriation support, financial assistance, financial literacy and livelihood programs, monitoring, and data collection.
Skills training programs will also be provided to enhance employability, career development and reintegration opportunities for OFWs and their kin.
Meanwhile, a designated personnel under the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) of the city government will man the Help Desk with technical support from relevant local government offices.AAL/LMLE/PIA Iloilo
