A new early education and nutrition program is now rolling out in Iloilo City to help children three years old and below develop social skills, motor abilities, and healthy eating habits.
The Infant, Toddler Early Education (ITED) program, spearheaded by the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), will benefit around 200 children in eight child development centers across Sta. Filomena, Rizal Pala Pala 2, Quintin Salas, Nabitasan, Libertad, PHHC Blk. 22, South Fundidor, and Bahay Bulilit in Jaro 1.
Under ITED, two flagship initiatives will be implemented:
▪️EDU-LIIT (Edukasyon para sa Bulilit), focused on developing social and cognitive skills through guided play and interaction.
▪️LUSOG-LIIT (MaLUsog na Bulilit), which ensures proper nutrition through hot meals prepared with locally sourced and indigenous food supplies.
City Mayor Raisa Treñas emphasized the importance of early social interaction, noting that many toddlers today are left with gadgets while their parents work.
“This program gives children a chance to interact, play, and learn while also strengthening their motor skills and nutrition — both vital for brain development,” Treñas said.
Each center will hold weekly sessions every Friday, accommodating up to five children at a time, facilitated by trained child development workers.
The ITED program, launched on September 12, also supports Iloilo City’s compliance with the Child-Friendly Local Governance Audit and forms part of the city’s RISE TO ACTION Roadmap.IMT
