The commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution concluded “peacefully” in Iloilo City on Wednesday, Feb. 25, highlighted by an orderly public assembly, according to the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO).

Based on monitoring reports from the City Tactical Operations Center (CTOC), no major EDSA-related incidents were reported between 8:00 a.m. and 6:40 p.m.

The Trillion Peso March, an anti-corruption rally, drew an estimated 2,000 participants who converged at Jaro Plaza.

Police Colonel Wilbert B. Parilla, officer-in-charge of the ICPO, credited the violence-free outcome to the strong cooperation of the community and the organizers’ adherence to the rule of law.

“We commend everyone, particularly the participants and organizers, for their respect for the law and their practice of peaceful assembly. These laudable actions contributed to achieving our goal of a violence-free celebration,” he stated.

To ensure public safety throughout the day, the ICPO executed a strategic deployment plan. This included:

▪️Active Mobile Patrols: Dispatched across key areas in the city to maintain visibility.
▪️Anti-Crowd Disturbance Teams: Placed on standby to respond swiftly to any unauthorized mass actions.
▪️Human Rights Adherence: Strict directives for all deployed personnel to respect human rights while maintaining peace and order.

Aside from the permitted march, the ICPO reported that no other EDSA-related activities or unauthorized disruptions were conducted in the city.IMT
