As Ilonggos prepare to observe Undas, the collective term for All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day, the Public Safety and Management Office (POSMO) has released its list of items and activities prohibited inside public and private cemeteries to ensure peace, order, and safety during the observance.

POSMO head Retired Col. Uldarico Garbanzos said the ban covers alcoholic beverages — including beer, flavored or low-alcohol variants, whisky, rum, brandy, gin, and tequila — as well as any makahililo or highly combustible materials such as gasoline, kerosene, propane, rugby, and benzene-based solvents.

The use of unregistered drones and those without security clearance is likewise prohibited. Firearms, whether unlicensed or licensed but without a Permit to Carry Firearms Outside of Residence (PTCFOR), are strictly not allowed.

To maintain solemnity inside cemeteries, Garbanzos said speakers, videoke machines, and other acoustic devices that could cause noise disturbance are banned. Gambling and related paraphernalia are also strictly prohibited.

POSMO likewise reminded the public that overnight stays in cemeteries are not allowed, and visitors are urged to observe cleanliness and avoid littering.

“These measures are meant to maintain order and safety during the observance of Undas. We ask for the public’s cooperation to ensure a peaceful and solemn commemoration,” Garbanzos said.

The city government will deploy composite teams from the Iloilo City Police Office, Bureau of Fire Protection, and the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office to enforce the bans and assist visitors throughout the long weekend.IMT
