Qualified drivers and operators of public utility jeepneys (PUJs) and tricycles in Iloilo City have until March 23 to submit their documents for the fuel subsidy program.
Drivers must be residents of Iloilo City plying city routes and have valid licenses, while operators must have their Certificate of Public Convenience or franchise.
“Tricycle drivers, particularly, must have a franchise from the Sangguniang Panlungsod (city council) and Motorized Tricycle Operator’s Permit issued by the Business Permit and Licensing Office,” Joy Gorzal, spokesperson for Mayor Raisa Treñas, said in a message to the media on Saturday, March 14.
PUJs must be included in the validated master list of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board.
The documents will serve as bases for the processing of their fuel subsidy coupons.
They can submit their requirements to the operation section of the Transportation and Traffic Management Office in Fort San Pedro.
Under the program, PUJ drivers and operators can receive PHP1,500 worth of petroleum products through their cooperatives, and P500 for tricycle drivers and operators.
The city government has initially allocated P3 million for the subsidy to cushion the impact of rising fuel costs amid the ongoing tension in the Middle East.PNA
