Iloilo was lagging behind other provinces in the country in terms of agricultural and fisheries output.
Based on the Philippine Statistics Authority’s (PSA) latest report, Iloilo was not among the Top 10 Provinces with the Highest Value of Production in Agriculture and Fisheries last year.
The list was topped by Bukidnon, which had the highest contribution to the country’s total value of production in agriculture and fisheries in 2024 at P145.60 billion.
Pangasinan came in second with P93.49 billion, followed by Pampanga (P93.29 billion), Negros Occidental (P83.02 billion), Batangas (P82.37 billion), South Cotabato (P81.54 billion).
Also included in the list were Nueva Ecija with P73.62 billion, Isabela with P72.36 billion, Davao del Sur with P68.77 billion, and Cebu with P60.55 billion.
Overall, the country posted an agricultural and fisheries output of P2.41 trillion in 2024, higher by 4.3 percent compared to P2.31 trillion recorded in 2023.
In terms of livestock production, Batangas registered the highest value at P32.28 billion.
For fisheries production, Pampanga was the leading province in terms of value at P37.9 billion.
On a positive note, Iloilo ranked ninth and 10th in terms of value of crop and poultry production, respectively.
The province contributed 2.9 percent (P36.75 billion) to the country’s total crop output and 3.4 percent (P13.27 billion) to poultry output. IMT
