The clock is ticking, and Board Member June Mondejar isn’t waiting.
Amid a wave of bomb threats that have shaken schools across Iloilo, Mondejar has filed urgent resolutions demanding a fast-track investigation and tougher campus security.
Citing the “urgent” nature of the threats, the second district board member bypassed the usual privilege speech, pushing the council to act immediately.
The resolutions call on Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) Director Police Colonel Bayani Razalan to intensify the probe and bring the perpetrators to justice, while urging schools to bolster security measures for students and staff.
Mondejar hinted that rewards could be offered to anyone who helps crack the case.
Meanwhile, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI-6) has thrown its weight behind the effort. It ordered ordered schools hit by threats to submit digital and electronic evidence to aid the investigation.
Assistant Regional Director Atty. Arnold Diaz stressed that the NBI will run a parallel probe alongside the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit 6, leaving no stone unturned.
Diaz also warned would-be pranksters that bomb threats are no laughing matter. Those caught could face up to five years in prison and a P40,000 fine.
The threat is real, and with multiple schools on edge, Mondejar, police, and the NBI are sending a clear message: any attempt to destabilize the province will be met with swift and decisive action. IMT
