Lawmakers from the province and city of Iloilo who signed the impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte won in the 2025 midterm elections.
Congressman Lorenz Defensor of the province’s Third District, clinched a landslide victory. He garnered 194,791 votes while his rival, Thelma Langusta, had 2,679 votes.
The Ilonggo lawmaker will serve as one of the House prosecutors in the looming impeachment trial of Duterte.
First District Representative Janette Garin also won the congressional race by a landslide, earning 154, 031 votes or 86.60 percent of the vote.
Fourth District Representative Ferj Biron retained his post with 139,202 votes. His opponent, Charlie Sustento, only got 79,236 votes.
Outgoing Congressmen Mike Gorriceta (Second District) and Boboy Tupas (Fifth District) finished their three consecutive terms in Congress.
In Iloilo City, Lone District Representative Jam-Jam Baronda succeeded in her reelection bid with 177,707 votes, defeating Mel Carreon (44,657) and Danilo Purzuelo (4,930).
