Severe Tropical Storm Opong caused widespread flooding, damaged homes, and displaced thousands of people in Iloilo province.

According to  the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), the typhoon affected 43,676 residents.

Flooding swamped 369 barangays in 30 towns, sending 9,304 people into 134 evacuation centers in the province.

Estancia recorded the most number of evacuees with 1,661 families, followed by Barotac Viejo (1,402), Oton (373), San Miguel (124), and Bingawan (108).

In Lambunao, homes in Brgy. Coto sustained partial damage due to rising waters.

Storm-related incidents were reported across the province: blocked roads from fallen trees in Janiuay and Lambunao, and a capsized boat in Oton that left two people injured.

A man in Carles survived a drowning incident, while another jumped from Agutayan Bridge in Santa Barbara.

Rough seas also stranded around 700 passengers at Dumangas Port.

In Iloilo City, flooding intensified by the Southwest Monsoon swamped 99 barangays across seven districts, displacing 10,032 families or 38,343 individuals.

Stranded passengers included 44 at Parola Wharf, 211 at Fort San Pedro, and 126 at Lapuz Wharf.

The Office of Civil Defense (OCD-6) placed the regional tally at 11,776 affected residents from 3,572 families, with estimated agricultural damage reaching P1.7 million, Iloilo bearing P1.4 million of the losses.IMT
