The enrolled copy of the proposed law setting a four-year term for Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (BSKE) officials has finally been transmitted to Malacañang.

Under the proposal, the next BSKE elections are scheduled for the first Monday of November 2026.

Kaya, bekenemen, pirmahan na ‘yan!” said Senator Imee Marcos.

The Senate and the House had long approved the proposed measure, but it was only on July 10 that it was transmitted from the House of Representatives to the Senate, and it reached the Palace only on July 15.

According to the Constitution, the President has 30 days from receipt of a bill to either sign it or veto it. If neither action is taken within that period, it automatically becomes law.

The senator emphasized that it’s only right to implement the law immediately for the sake of barangay and SK officials.
